Introduction
We are seeking a passionate, child and family focused Paediatrician to join our team in the Cayman Islands. Working from the new 8,000sqft Optimal Healthcare Medical Centre, seeing children from 0 to 18 both in an office setting (normal for the Cayman Islands) and in hospital as required.
And not just any Paediatrician… We’re genuinely redefining healthcare in ways we can only share in person, but what we can share is that it is based on an absolute focus on and commitment to our mission; to transform health and healthcare alike, to deliver an optimal healthspan within a long lifespan, and thus vibrancy to life. Do you want to go back to delivering truly optimal healthcare, in a deeply empowering environment where you get to truly impact the lives of patients every day, and despite the commitment that obviously entails, have optimal work-life balance too, in an amazing environment, amongst wonderful people?
If that actually sounds like why you entered medicine, we think you might be excited at the opportunity we are offering.
Are we right for each other?
There’s a reason not a single doctor we’ve recruited has ever resigned… and this is it.
You’ll be someone who first and foremost is truly devoted to their patients, and every day turns up aspiring to be and do their very best, because it’s part of your very soul. You’ll be someone who places their patient’s interests above economics or business, and you’ll be wanting a professional home that not only accepts this but in fact embraces it and would have it no other way (whilst ensuring your commitment does not go unrewarded either). And to be your best every day, you’ll be wanting an employer and an environment that makes you smile every morning when it’s time to go do.
We’re guessing this is close to why you went into medicine… and it should.
Every physician that has ever worked for us has stayed with us (barring one retirement!), and we believe that says something. So, we have already redefined what it means to be a truly great employer. We started our new practice to truly embody our values and to redefine sustainable, health-focused care, without the influences of corporate interest. And we see our role as the relentless pursuit of making your life as easy, secure and enjoyable as possible, so that you can passionately pass that on to patients.
And there are some other important things too:
- You’ll be treated like responsible professionals, with autonomy and flexibility
- We’ll be asking how we can help you deliver even better quality & service, NOT billing and numbers
- We’ll be regularly checking all is OK, and ensuring matters are tackled where not
- We’ll be trying to maximise the time on what you love, by minimising what it takes to get the job done well
- And we’ll be working together, hand-in-hand, to transform the bar in healthcare… again
Transforming Healthcare… Again
We’re redefining healthcare in the Cayman Islands, and patients are already really liking it, because our heart is in the right place, our integrity is unquestionable, and we’re truly shifting the paradigm from an obsession on sickness, running a myriad of diagnostics and billing fees, to health, wellness and patient-centric healthcare. We’re re-defining easy, and we’re unwaveringly committed to excellence.
An example already in place is the absolute first that our patients get to simple depart after a consultation, not stand in a billing line, because that’s what is in their best interests. And it takes a big pressure off you too. We trust our patients and want to make their life easy. And it is now proven too.
And when everyone realises just how much we’re innovating the healthcare experience, focus and professional employment, it will really matter. After all what’s a rewarding future worth if it’s not sustainable, right?
Job Overview & Responsibilities
You will be responsible, as part of a team, for the care of all Paediatric patients in Optimal Healthcare. Families like to see their own Paediatrician and we will support you in building up a case load of children and families. A vital component of the role is the promotion and management of optimal health through regular well children checks. Keeping children healthy and thriving is not just an aspiration for us, it is our mission. The role is to serve the health of each and every child and that starts with a focus on keeping them healthy, through optimal primary prevention, picking up and intervening in health issues at the earliest possible moment and inspiring families and children to truly engage in the principles of optimal health, not just fixing sickness.
The role will allow you appropriate time to mange each child properly, with a typical appointment time of 30 minutes (if you have worked in the NHS, you’ll understand truly what that means). You will be supported by high calibre nursing staff, state of the art equipment, lab services, and IT support including AI generated medical notes if you wish. You’ll hold a patient population that is significantly smaller than you’ve been used to, because we REALLY want you to focus on their health. You need the time and support to do that. You can be a Paediatrician in the Cayman Islands or an Optimal Paediatrician in the Cayman Islands. They are not the same thing. We’d be very happy to explain why.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
- To support optimal health, where possible, in all children
- To develop strong lifelong relationships with families through trust and mutual respect
- To be available to families as needed when on call for the practice
- Collaborate with both internal and external healthcare professionals to deliver optimal multidisciplinary care
- Engage children and their families in health education and preventive strategies to empower them in managing their health.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and health technologies to enhance patient care.
- Support community health initiatives, screening and wellness programs to promote a healthier population.
- Stay updated in general paediatrics and your area of special interest
- Deliver healthcare that you are utterly proud of and that fires you up every morning.
We are looking for someone with broad paediatric experience, who is happy to attend newborn deliveries (with back up if required), care for children both in an office and a hospital setting and ideally someone with a special interest that compliments the team.
Although office based the role is extremely varied from seeing children with GP type complaints, undertaking wellness checks, managing complex chronic disease and neurodiversity. The role gives you the opportunity to get to know your patients and their families properly and to provide true holistic not just sickness care.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited institution and current licensure* to practice as a Paediatrician.
- At least 5 years experience at consultant level
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a diverse patient caseload.
*We are able to recruit professionals fully trained e.g. CCT, and licensed in at least one of 7 accepted jurisdictions, being United Kingdom, United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand or Jamaica.
